Born in Barcelona, Spain, Luis Roberts had a career in Economy, Foreign Trade, and Translation in his country. In Venezuela, in 1998, he joined the HBO Latin America Subtitling team as a subtitler and proofreader, until 2005 when he founded Traduplus Servicios Lingüísticos –currently Traduplus Audiovisual– along with Carlota Rodríguez. From 2006 to this day he has been teaching Comparative Stylistics and Audiovisual Translation at the Universidad Central de Venezuela, the only important public university offering Audiovisual Translation classes. Carlota Rodríguez
Projects/Translators Coordinator
Carlota Rodríguez Yárnoz, from Caracas, Venezuela, began her professional life in 1974 as a Speech Therapist. In 1987 she took the Simultaneous and Consecutive Interpreting course form the NELS (Núcleo de Estudios Lingüísticos y Sociales), and from 1997 to 2005 she joined HBO Latin America’s Subtitling Team, as a subtitler and proofreader. Alejandro Salas
Project Manager
Alejandro Salas, born in Caracas, Venezuela, obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Translation –English, Spanish, and French– from the Universidad Central de Venezuela, with a thesis based on Audiovisual Translation: Translating and Subtitling TMZ on TV. In 2008, he started working as a freelance subtitler and in 2009 he joined Traduplus Audiovisual as a senior translator. He recently completed a Master of Science in Spanish Language Education, at Nova Southeastern University, in Florida, USA.
